In a significant move to bolster its cybersecurity framework, the Sharjah Cyber Security Center (SCSC) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Fortinet Inc., a leading global provider of cybersecurity solutions. This collaboration is set to enhance the cybersecurity landscape in the Emirate of Sharjah, as stated by the Sharjah Digital Department (SDD).
The MoU aims to deepen cooperation between SCSC and Fortinet across various domains of information and communications technology (ICT) and cybersecurity. Emphasizing national collaboration, the agreement addresses legislative and regulatory frameworks while also promoting judicial and law enforcement capacities in combating cyber threats.
Key components of the partnership include sharing insights on advanced security solutions, conducting technical workshops and training sessions, and engaging in cyber drills. Additionally, both parties will have access to Fortinet’s NSE training materials, which will support efforts in incident response and assessments concerning enterprise networking and cloud security. This initiative is expected to enhance the institutional capabilities of both organizations.
His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of SDD, expressed that the partnership is in alignment with their strategic objectives. He emphasized that a robust cybersecurity framework is crucial for safeguarding the emirate’s digital transformation and its sustainable development goals.
Eng. Abdelnasir Obaid BuKhatir, Director of the Sharjah Cyber Security Center, remarked that this collaboration marks a milestone in establishing a comprehensive cybersecurity ecosystem capable of adapting to rapid technological changes. Fortinet’s spokesperson highlighted the collaborative effort as a vital sign of commitment towards nurturing a secure digital environment.
The agreement embodies essential principles such as mutual respect and cooperation, similar to the previously established partnerships, aimed at promoting cybersecurity across Sharjah and the wider UAE. This initiative signals a proactive step forward in safeguarding the region’s digital integrity and enhancing the overall resilience of its cyber infrastructure. Source
