Bridgestone Americas confirmed it is investigating a cyber incident that is affecting a limited number of its manufacturing facilities in North America, with the company saying its rapid response helped contain the issue at an early stage. The firm said it does not believe customer data or interfaces were compromised.
Bridgestone Americas (BSA) is the North American arm of Bridgestone, a Japanese multinational tire manufacturer and the largest in the world by production volume. BSA operates 50 production facilities and employs 55,000 people, representing roughly 43% of Bridgestone Corporation’s total size. In 2024, BSA alone delivered $12 billion in sales and $1.2 billion in operating profit.
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, reports surfaced about a cybersecurity incident impacting two of BSA’s production facilities in Aiken County, South Carolina. WRDW reported the initial concerns and updates.
The next day, Canadian media outlets reported disruptions at BSA’s manufacturing facility in Joliette, Quebec
Responding to media inquiries, Bridgestone confirmed it is investigating a cyber incident and said its team responded quickly to contain the issue in keeping with established protocols. The company emphasized that it remains confident the incident was contained early and that no customer data or interfaces were compromised.
Staff are working around the clock to mitigate the impact and minimize fallout in the supply chain, with Bridgestone saying maintenance of business continuity and data protection has been the top priority as it addresses potential further impacts. “We continue to work diligently to meet our customer obligations and to address any potential further impacts associated with this cyber incident,” a Bridgestone spokesperson said.
As of this writing, no ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the Bridgestone Americas incident.
The 2022 Bridgestone incident involved a ransomware attack by LockBit that leaked data it had stolen during the breach. The current investigation remains ongoing, with forensic analysis underway.
